1/17 A little bit of politics

January 18th, 2007 by admin

A little interesting note to start this off:

This isn’t meant to criticize at all, just pointing it out because I thought it was funny.
check out this speech. Tell if I am crazy or does he really use the Martin Luther King “I have a Dream” speech.

Change “I’ve Had Enough” to “I have a Dream” and listen for similar enunciation and gestures. and modernize the issues.

a little ironic given that he’s the biggest black name since MLK.

OK, anyways. So I’ve know Hilary doesn’t stand a chance, thank god. Though curiously she still leads on the betting polls. By the way, if you want to know where people stand, check betting sites, not CNN. Betters put their money where their mouth is, CNN doesn’t.
Based solely on instinct, a populist front runner like Obama will lose steam or screw up before 2008. I guarantee it. This much talk 1 year 11 months before election! Not a good thing for him. Know why basketball teams hate being undefeated when they are playing a big game? Yea, sooorta the same idea if you know what I”m getting at.

I still have mixed feelings about this guy. He’s young and I worry he will care too much about his later career, and does not have any real experience, nor has he really done anything as far as I’ve seen, besides talk and look pretty.

There I said it. Wait and see…

Besides, Evan Bayh dropped out, yarr! :(

1/16 If only college wasn’t a business…

January 16th, 2007 by admin

then I’d learn a lot more, waste a lot less time, and graduate much earlier with the same knowledge.

But, college is a business. If it were not I wouldn’t have to waste my time like I did today and for most of my time in UO taking pre-req classes that are not only large and boring, but provide information I already know. Why do I have to suffer through a econ 202 class? I understand I’m a business major and it should be dumbed down for say, mathematics majors who just want to learn about about business(not that mathematic majors are less intelligent…but they’d have to dumb down a math class for me too). All in all, I’ve taken 7/16 of my classes so far at UO for getting through pre-reqs that I did not care about, and usually learning little to nothing.

Why wouldn’t they let people test out of classes like econ 202? Or have advanced or speed classes? Your answer ironically lies in economics. Whats the profit margin on a 25 person class of Spanish students? Well, compare it to an Econ 202 class. The cost is about the same(1 paid teacher) as a 150 person Econ 202 class, but the revenue is much greater.

So why are you and I taking these pre-reqs? Profits.

I’d rather just give them my money and save my time and effort…

1/15 Screw Abraham Lincoln, and his pennies too

January 15th, 2007 by admin

OK, ’screw Abraham Lincoln’ is kind of a lame eye-catcher, but ‘fuck’ seemed pretty intense. But seriously, I like Abraham Lincoln, so I’m just kidding about that. Back to the point. Pennies are a total waste of my pocket space. I have to sift through them to find real change. I have to get 3 quarters, 2 dimes and 4 pennies back when I could just get a dollar. We spend 1.4 cent on every penny produced.

But the real point of this post is to get you to watch this video regarding pennies. It make you think…sort of :)
For Penny Lovers
and most importantly its a hilarious Upright Citizens Brigade skit!

1/14 Actually following through with a New Years Resolution!

January 14th, 2007 by admin

So one of my resolutions this year was to do something I wouldn’t normally do. If you know me I can be pretty reserved when it comes to acting and dancing and such. Hell, when drama was required in middle school I did a TA(teachers assistant) to get out of it. Though I did have to do drama once…miserable.

So in light of this. Something I would never do is sign up for a dance class. So I did. And I’m going to stick with it! I chose salsa dancing. I fear I’m not very smooth unless intoxicated, when I’m such a smooth dancer (ignorance is bliss, don’t correct me). So here goes nothing! I already missed 2 classes first week, oh well.

And they wouldn’t let me sign up for rock climbing because I missed the first class, lame!

1/10 Readjusting and boredom!

January 10th, 2007 by admin

Finally moved into my room last night! Once I get my pop art paintings I’ll be all set, already feeling relieving having all of my stuff finally moved in.

Been really…befuddled, yes that works, these last two days. I was initially really excited to move back down to Eugene and seeing everyone, but that has pretty much run it’s course. I guess I just need some time to readjust/figure out what I want to do with myself again. I’ve been totally awkward the last few days, but it’s only day 4 or 5 here, I figure I’ll need some time. No one else is really coming from the same experience right now so no one to really relate to encourage me that I’m not just weird, oh well! hah.

I haven’t really had to deal with settling down in something like 7 months, which is a long ass time(I think so at least). First part of summer was planning/thinking about the trip. Since then I was never in one country for more than 3 weeks strait. I take that back…I was only in once in Denmark for more than 3 weeks strait. Long story short, going from seeing ridiculously sweet things like the Kremlin, going on a date at Hamlet’s castle, pub crawling for a weekend in Dublin….to chilling in Eugene is quite an adjustment!

Plus classes are LAME. Going from discussing the reasoning behind incarceration and different viewpoints around the world…to macroeconomics and calculus lectures….sucks.

1/7 Couch Bum

January 7th, 2007 by admin

Arrive here at the Delta Sig house yesterday. So many new faces, which sucks because I’m pretty bad at names! Either way I’ve got to admit I was pretty nervous coming back to a class of 18 pledges. I didn’t think it was possible but I think I like every one so far, right off the bat too, impressive!

So back to the title, yep, I’m presently sleeping on a couch. Not looking to change anytime before Wednesday due to some roomkey and missing persons issues. I was initially pretty pissed off. You know that feeling when you arrive somewhere after a long roadtrip or flight and you come inside to where you’re staying–a hotel or whatever–and just want to put your stuff down so you can collect yourself. Yea well I had that feeling for about a day. Now I’ve set up shop in the communal room in the quad and feeling a lot better. If my laptop is out and I have a desk to myself, I’m golden.

Time for classes!
