Well, before I get into that. I just watched 300 on tv-links (couldn’t believe they had it!). Gotta say I wasn’t incredibly impressed. It may have been the hype I had heard but it was simply not what I had hoped for. They just tried too hard at the whole heroic things, it wasn’t believable. OK, I get the whole “Spartans are reaaally heroic” bit and all, but the characters were poorly developed as humans beings I could relate too, which is the core of any good story.

While it had its flaws as well, I’d see Troy again any day over 300.

Now the whole east v west thing was pretty blatant in 300, and apparently the middle east, especially Iran, didn’t take too kindly to it. Portraying the east as deformed barbarians was pretty uncalled for. I get the whole ‘clash of civilizations’ thing, which is historically sound. Yet, the movie seemed to liken the Persians to Sauron and Mordor. Anyone else catch the whole Lord of the Rings allusion? all the pieces fit. Hell, the immortals and the Ukuk-hai….anyone see a pretty fucking ridiculously close connection between the two? haha.

OK, back to the whole part about the middle east being pissed off about 300 Want to see some scary shit? Watch some Iranian TV here at MermiTV. Don’t watch it on FOX News, hear it from their mouths. Guaranteed to freak you out. Anything from “Praise Osama!” to “The Americans will fall as Rome and Egypt did.” The scary part is its legitimate national TV….

I licked my chops and did food inventory last night, hah. 7 grapefruits, plentiful juice selection, some apples, 4 eggs.

Its kind of sweet having so much space to myself (and one other person).

UCLA won! One step closer to a Nintendo Wii.. (if I win my bracket I’m buying one with the $150 I would get). Two more games UCLA…you can do it!

I ate dough co last night, and I was the soberest I had ever been while eating Dough Co. And I came to a realization that many of you probably have. It sucks. No longer can I eat it drunk imagining it to be an amazing feast, my ignorance is ruined forever! Blast!

Tv-links posted the new season of ROME. My joy is only held back by my lack of time to watch it! Busy week…procrastinated (ok..I was playing starcraft too much earlier this week) on my final. Did get some serious work done, a two day reset on PVC pipe turned out nicely at Jerry’s.

Now if only TV-links would get The Tudors on there, I really like that show actually.

Oh, and Radiohead sucks too. I understand they are trying to be different, and I gave them points for that, but it wasn’t enough to make them not suck. (Ok, I like Karma Police and Paranoid Andoroid, but the rest of the music more than compensates for this by how awful it is)
(ok…I like High and Dry too, maybe they won’t make my hate list after all.)

Fuck affirmative action, why bother?

I was watching the MTV spring break for a few painful minutes and I can, without further research, tell you exactly whats wrong with the black culture in this country. Honestly, as a race, why do you do that to yourself? As if racism and..to put it lightly… a rough start here in this country wasn’t bad enough, the culture has to set themselves back faster than they can advance. I was music videos of goofy looking black people who say ‘axe’ instead of ‘ask,’ speeding away from flashing red and blue sirens? And you want to tell me that ‘the man is keeping the black man down?’

Excuse me while I have trouble stomaching that argument.

I’m not being a racist, on the contrary. After arguing against the flawed American prison system and the disproportionate imprisonment of blacks in this country, seeing needless self-defeating behavior like this really frustrates me.
