4/30 Potential Hope in the Housing Market

April 30th, 2007 by admin

Got three possibilities on the table for the housing situation, looks good. Competition seems to be dying down! Trying to save money/be close to the campus now. I’m resisting the urge to just be done with it because I’ve spent so much time looking for houses…because patience will pay off in a better house. Year lease, gotta remember that…

Chuck Palahniuk is coming on Wednesday, should be a busy day for me. Edwards at noon and Palahniuk and his new book at 7pm, if I decide to go. (JK..just checked….tickets sold out). OK, just Edwards then, still eventful! Maybe I’ll read his book anyway, hell, fight club was good.

4.28 Russian Dolls

“Writing is sorting out the mess of life”

russiandolls_l200605101759.jpg

I doubt if you’re reading this you have seen L’Auberge Espagnole, well this is the sequel. Its in French (Les PoupĂ©es russes) but easily subtitled in English. Really great movie, makes you feel a lot closer to the characters than most Hollywood movies do. Nice to get a foreign perspective as well. Its well done, and I especally like it because I can relate the the guy. Not a writer like him per say, but I can still relate to him. Naturally, that makes for a great bit of film.

Not a lot of films tackle to difficulties of the twenty-somethings, its something that kind of gets swept under the rug. I’m glad that this one did such a good job of it.

Gets me a little antsy to travel again :)

“I think about all the girls I’ve known or slept with or just desired, they’re like a bunch of Russian Dolls. We spend our lives playing the game, dying to know who’ll be the last, the teeny one hidden inside the others. You can’t get there right away. You have to follow the progression. You have to open them one by one, wondering, ‘Is She the last?’ “

4.27 Real Estate Agents from hell

April 27th, 2007 by admin

People stupidity kills me most when it affects me. Happens day to day, but in this situation I focus on real estate agents. When you have property sitting unused and someone calls to rent it, you better be nice! This guy I call seems like I’m hounding him for charity or something. Others are terrible at calling back. The guy who left at 3:20 when I said I’d be there a bit after 3 …(which..why didn’t he just call me), had the nerve to ask to reschedule (btw, he had already delayed from 12pm to 3 earlier that same day). So I told him to screw himself in the nicest way possible.

Still no house. On the bright side I wouldn’t want to be dealing with these people anyway for an entire year.

Grr.

4.26 Decisions decisions!

April 27th, 2007 by admin

Have to decide here pretty soon what I’m doing for classes this summer…

Take a class or two at UP to have a little more leeway to choose courses when I start there?

Take a Spanish class despite the fact that it seems like a waste of time. If so…PSU, PCC, or UP? UP costs like $4000 for a class!(bc its an intensive double course). PCC is a 3 hr class, 4 days a week. Intense. I really want to learn, but maybe theres a better way?

Or perhaps sign up for German. Seems impractical, but I’ve gotten the urge to learn it. I like the language (believe it or not) and being of German ancestry makes me feel a strange obligation to learn…

Whatever the case..I got 1 more week to figure it out!

4.25 Oh, glorious day!

April 25th, 2007 by admin

The last three episodes of ROME were posted on tv-links, and on my night off!

Now if the 4th episode of The Tudors was posted, I’d be as giddy as a schoolgirl

EDIT: And so I am :)

4.25 Articles of Impeachment of Cheney introduced

April 25th, 2007 by admin

Smart move choosing Cheney, the only public servant with a lower approval rating than Bush himself. Myself..I’d much rather have Bush than Cheney, so impeaching Bush would be a bad decision.

Its a shame its Kucinich. However, it couldn’t be anyone else. No one but a fringe candidate would risk his political career on something thats very difficult to succeed in. I’ve seen the guy speak, hes an alright guy. Not much for the political savvy though.

I’m not an extreme liberal by far, but Cheney is a crook. It doesn’t take an guy like Kucinich to figure this out, he was just the only one with nothing to loose.

I love the facebook group, “Could Someone Suck Bush’s Dick Already So We Could Impeach Him?” Haha. Its sadly…true. Horray for our national priorities.

Doesn’t look like the impeachment is getting much press, but better than that the democrats are getting off their asses and proposing a deadline for Iraq. I can’t say I’m surprised, if they didn’t it would be political suicide for democratic chances in the congress or the presidency in 2008. I just hope they have their mind on something more than political motives, or they are no better than the GOP. I can’t say I really trust the democrats quite yet. It’s easy to criticize, harder to make productive alternatives.

We’ll see if they can follow up the criticism with something productive. For the sake of our nations future, I pray to God they do.
