So I feel a bit less bad (see last post) after talking to one of the other servers today. Granted, shes a total nutcase, but at least she knows it, so I can’t really fault her too much for it. So her take on it was that dishwashers and cooks choose their position, like a waiter comes for making tips, so its not fair to compare. They don’t have to deal with people, we do, ect. Still not adequate I don’t think…but its a bit more positive.

Quite a busy day at work today, the dishwasher was really helpful in keeping the dishes cleaned, above and beyond the call of duty. I decided to drop the guy 5 bucks, (dishwashers and cooks aren’t tipped at the restaurant, ever). First of all, I feel really awkward when I get something nice done for me, or visa versa. I’m always not sure about what degree of gratefulness so I end up just avoiding them altogether, haha. Guess I need to work on that…very passive aggressive
Anyways, onto the point. That being that I definitely work hard on my job, but the cooks and dishwashers work hard too, and they make minimum wage (cooks more, but still). Reminds me of being on the other side of where I am in Nordstroms (doing the grunt work…but not getting commission). I guess I’m just torn by wanting to give them a share of the tips…and wanting to pay for college. Sounds reasonable…but then extrapolate that to really fucking rich people(Lake O…). They just want this…or just that….where do you draw the line?

Everyone does this…hah, but I thought that if I had a girl, I’d name her Colby.
There you have it.

out of work for a few days, need to keep the money rolling in for future travels so I’m helping my brother frame a barn! Not fun work carrying 6 x 8 sheets of plywood up to the second story, but it’ll be a good workout! Which I will need for lacrosse here soon.
Soon i fear I will have no shortage of work….the dreadest Nordstroms anniversary sale. Glad for the work, but its low paying and the people there suck. Hope I get some solid hours tho,
Should go in on monday and make sure that happens…

“If you were really someone who could be accurately described as having a ‘one in a million’ personality, in China, there would be 1200 of you.”
:)
Edit:
Errr….corrected for mathematical reasons, hah!

Heard good things about it, so I ended up seeing it. I typically love historical fiction.
It was very good! The character development was realistic and well done. The characters confused me at times, but as I thought about it, I realized how human it made them. No happy endings here, the movie portrays Ugandan dictator as he was, unstable and brutal. The movie shows this in a subtle way and ultimately leaves you with a good feeling of the optimism that is lost in the corruption of many African governments still to this day.
I would recommend it.
In other news I saw Babel. I wouldn’t save I recommend it. I didn’t mind having watched it…but I wouldn’t say I recommend it. It was just…worth viewing but lacked substance. Then again perhaps it was meant to.
