7.13 Entitlement

July 13th, 2007 by admin

There is this guy who works somewhere near Big Reds, who drives a Nissan Z, not sure who he is. Anyways, he always without fail takes two parking spaces. So yesterday I wrote a note and put it under his windshield wipers. “I’m glad you feel such a sense of entitlement that you believe that you deserve two parking spaces, but others don’t.”

Probably wont do shit, but someone’s gotta confront (sortof passive aggressively in this case I guess..hah) these jerk-offs.

7.10 70 Hours a week

July 10th, 2007 by admin

OK down to 62 this particular week..but its looking to be a solid 70 hours for the next couple of weeks. I need the money to travel and such (well..pay for school too…but thats less motivating to work for). Definatatly destroys the social life though…I don’t even bother anymore. Not to mention that I have two classes and lacrosse on Tuesday evenings.

Going to really take some time to relax in August though.. you know, just having two classes an only one job. Real relaxing ;)

Speaking of lacrosse though. We usually lose, partially because we never have subs, but mostly because the team SUCKS. I have been playing pretty OK, but the game today, definitely sucked it up. Knew we didn’t have a chance since they have 15 players on our 10, and it was like 90 degrees. Bad temp for no subs. Still, tonight wasn’t even fun.

7.5 Want to learn something interesting?

Take 45 minutes to Watch this. Its called Money as Debt. Ever wonder about the mysteries of money? How everyone seems to be in debt, if so, to who? How do we create money? What will this system ultimately lead to? Disturbing, enlightening, and insightful.

A quick economics course. If you, like most, believe the statement “Banks lend out the money people deposit” describes our banking system, you will be in for a surprise! Animated, very easy to follow, full of cool quotes from Woodrow Wilson, Lincoln, and others…

7.3 Run, Lola, Run

July 4th, 2007 by admin

Another movie review, this one’s a German movie…Run Lola Run.

I fall more in love with foreign films every time I see one. They come from a different perspective and avoid the only type of recycling I don’t enjoy…Hollywood. Recent foreign films I’ve seen….Amelie, Y Tu Mama Tambien, this one, Russian Dolls…. Pretty much every one has made it to my favorite movies list, thats impressive.

Onto the movie, its a quick one at 80 minutes. It follows a girl who has 20 minutes to gather 100,000 marks to save her boyfriend from his own mistake. It explores the small choices and big impacts in life, bumping into someone, causing a car accident. But none of this is incredibly original. What fascinated me the most about this movie is how easily it could have fallen into a sub-par movie. The directing was truly artful.

The thing I’m noticing with foreign films is that tend to focus on reality more than Hollywood. No one’s saying that Hollywood tries to capture reality, so its nice to find a medium that does. Foreign films, at least the ones I’ve been watching recently, tackle issues in day to day life. Emotional conflicts and coming of age tales which are strangely ignored by American cinema. The actors are fairly average looking. Take Lola for example,

OKAY, shes got blood red hair, but aside from that, not exactly a C-cup cliche actress. She sweats, heaven forbid. She may be a bit of an odd-ball, but she’s a rounded individual that you could legitimately meet as opposed to the Hollywood norm where actors are type-cast and have incomplete personalities, or personalities totally subordinate to their roles. Thats all I have to say on that…

It won’t be your typical Hollywood movie, but I say go for it! at 80 minutes, what can it hurt?

And it had a cool soundtrack ;) I’ll be watching it again.

7.1 July, July

July 1st, 2007 by admin

Already…sweet..sortof. Closer to school and moving into the house. More work behind me, and good times closer.

I want to be in Greece SO BAD RIGHT NOW. Flipping through my pics, god damn those were good times. All the people I met, imagine if I had been there during peak season and in the mindset I’m in now, which is that I’ve done it, come home, digested it, and ready to go back and do it again better.

For now, I’ll work on living in my imagination more often~
