10.29 Heroes

October 29th, 2007 by admin

The show started out catchy, a plot line that was interesting and dynamic. And ok, there was a really hot cheerleader :P Now its just getting sloppy and silly with no coherent direction. The plot twists don’t have any order, its starting to look like Lost, just trying to string people along for awhile until they create some kind of conclusion…or don’t. They are randomly introducing characters with little development. In general it lacks direction and I’m done watching. boo ;P

Edit: OK, the last episode ‘might’ have got me back…

10.23 I should be the topic of some sort of medical study

October 23rd, 2007 by admin

Hah, so it seems I have some sort of immunity to the addictive effects of nicotine. I have ’smoked’ for over a year now, anywhere from a pack every other week, to a pack every month or two, (Wanes when the weather is nice, hah) yet I do not have any addictive desire for more. I enjoy it, its loosens up anxiety, but nothing more.

Not that I’m complaining ;)

10.21 Just a few of the intolerable contradictions in fundamentalism

October 21st, 2007 by admin

In my admittably limited study of the bible thus far (first time), I’m shocked by the profuse number of utter contradictions between biblical ‘truth’ and fundamental Christianity today:

Under fundamental Christianity, these are true:
1) Drugs that ease childbirth are explicitly blasphemous (God’s punishment to Eve)
2) Communism is the ideal, yet Christians in America typically oppose welfare? If that may be a overstatement…its at least certain they aren’t striving for communism!
3) Slavery, yep, very OK. Expected, really, though not explicitly its certainly not condemned. Though there seem to be certain ways you should treat slaves. Quite the moral high-ground, that is.

Just silly.

Either its the direct word of God or it isn’t, even in the context of the bible it can’t be the direct word, there are two very different stories of creation which totally contradict each other. So why do people, even Christians, not laugh off people who quote the bible explicitly as the definitive and undebatable source of truth. Picking and choosing is just childish and should not be taken seriously.

10.20 tv-links raided!

October 20th, 2007 by admin

My favorite website, perhaps, was raided yesterday. No more free movies and tv-shows.

Glad I stayed up powering through Weeds 3rd season the other night. Now I can’t watch Heroes at my own convenience anymore ;( I wouldn’t even care if there were commericals!

Damn British police…

10.17 Vaguely bored, but mostly cold

October 17th, 2007 by admin

This whole never use the heater thing sounded fine…until now when I have a coat on and two pairs of sweatpants on and still freezing my ass off. Bad insulation perhaps. Hard to focus on getting something productive done…been enormously successful if you count chewing through episodes of “Weeds,” but that hardly counts, I think.

I finally got my plane ticket to Guatemala. Found one where I didn’t have to spend the night in Atlanta and pay for a room. Only $530, most of the alternative at slightly different days were $700 plus, so I’m pretty pleased.

Now I need to stop watching TV and get out of the house for fear of being here the entire day ;)

10.17 Bad Omens

October 17th, 2007 by admin

I’m not big on superstition, but I think its a fair assessment to say that if a bird faceplants in your driveway…its not a good omen.

Even weirder…the birds been there for a day(ok, I didn’t really want to kick it to the side, nor did I really want to bury it)…but tonight, it disappeared….cat? Resurrection? You Decide.
