First debate I watched in its entirety. From what I saw of others…it seemed much better. They got into fights, haha.
I’m pleased to say that Huckabee rocked that debate! Giuliani and Romney were name-calling like gradeschoolers.
McCain had a solid showing, but he shows his age. He is about as tied down by Vietnam as Giuliani is by 9/11. He has the experience, and would have made a great candidate in either of the last two elections. He would also be the oldest person every elected president. I’d like to allow Thompson to head back to bed, he certainly looks half asleep when answering. His enthusiasm is…underwhelming. I had high hopes for him too ;/
Poor Romney, lost some serious support in this debate. He stumbled nearly every question he got. I was feeling alright about the guy prior to this debate, but he showed some serious flaws. He even flipped on a trivial issue like Don’t ask, dont tell! Who knows what he really believes anymore? He seems to have groomed his opinions based on the polls. The problem is, polls are more fickle than values.
Brimming with excitement in how flawlessly Huckabee tackled every question. Now if only he’d win the lottery…
From how the “front-runners” preformed, its far from over! Though its pretty clear that Thompson and McCain are all but spent. Tancredo? Why does he ever bother….

….especially Law and Order. Whoever thought to start the next episode before cutting for commercial…brilliant. Simple, but brilliant. So its 3am and I just can’t turn it off. Hah. Unfortunately its the Criminal Intent/SVU series, if it were the original with Jack McCoy I’d be more excited.

Finally Huckabee is getting some press! First the Chuck Norris ad, then the huge surge in Iowa polls. Neck and neck with Romney, despite the millions and millions more Romney has spent. Finally the media can’t ignore him! O’Reily put him on the “no chance” list. Wouldn’t be the first time he lost a bet…he bet Huck would never break 10%.
What bothers me about the media, among the great number of things, is their questioning of candidates. Favorites like Giuliani get light questions, the hardest question Romney gets is ‘how do you feel about Hillary Clinton.” Watch them interview Huckabee, and he gets “you have a history of raising taxes in your state.” The only redeeming part about this is how resoundingly well Huckabee responses.
The time will come, very soon, when people realize Giuliani has no where to go but down. In the meantime…FOX News will continue to try to project their “Fear Islam, elect Giuliani” agenda.

I really hope they don’t scrap that ‘don’t ask, don’t tell policy.’ No, I’m not a homophobe or against gay rights, its just that if there is a draft, man wouldn’t that be an easy way out. I mean what are they going to ask you to make out with a guy? Two word “I’m gay” and you’re out of Iran. Seems like a pretty sweet deal to me, haha. Not that we’ll invade Iran….Bush doesn’t haven’t enough time to do that, but at the rate we are going, we’re going to need a draft anyways.
Nearly 1 in a 100 in the army deserted in 2007. Thats an incredible number. Not that I blame them, overworked. Would be getting a lot more sympathy though if it were involuntary.

Bunch of papers, and once I’m done with that…. packing and I’m off. In sum, too much work and too little fun. I can see it now, with exactly one month left I have a ton of stuff to clean up the term and hopefully end on a good note. Some stuff I could have gotten done before….
All I can do is look forward to the Guatemala trip and pray it goes well. Though a month of relaxation at home does sound rather nice…I’m sure I won’t be regretting the decision to buy the ticket afterwards
Plus, when I get home, its time for more Battlestar Galactica, The Tudors, and it’ll be skiing/boarding season. I think I’ll actually go this season, despite years of ‘I meant to go…”
Back to the paper…maybe I’ll do well this term. God I hope so, getting nervous about the usefulness of a liberal arts degree…

Made my first official campaign donation the other day. OK, it was a measly $20.08 (get it? hah!) but I’m a poor college student
Typically I’m a Democrat, but the showings in recent years by them has been downright pathetic. Kerry? The present Congress? A bunch of nutjobs these days. So, unless Hillary gets assassinated (not that I would in any condone such an action….but if there is such a fund for that cause I’ll be donating more than $20!
) I’ll be finding a Republican candidate. Liking Huckabee right now, not necessarily for the issues, more so because he actually has beliefs and isn’t a shady career politician like Guiliani. Gotta hate that guy for riding the coattails of 9-11, what exactly did he do anyway? New York hated him before that. Still, I disagree with him on Capital punishment, abortion, civil unions, the usual stuff that religious folk support out of faith rather than reason.
Still, I could live with Thompson, and maybe with Romney?
But at the end of the day, who supports Huckabee? Chuck Norris, and we all know better than to mess with Chuck….
