11.16 Don’t ask, Don’t tell

November 16th, 2007 by admin

I really hope they don’t scrap that ‘don’t ask, don’t tell policy.’ No, I’m not a homophobe or against gay rights, its just that if there is a draft, man wouldn’t that be an easy way out. I mean what are they going to ask you to make out with a guy? Two word “I’m gay” and you’re out of Iran. Seems like a pretty sweet deal to me, haha. Not that we’ll invade Iran….Bush doesn’t haven’t enough time to do that, but at the rate we are going, we’re going to need a draft anyways.

Nearly 1 in a 100 in the army deserted in 2007. Thats an incredible number. Not that I blame them, overworked. Would be getting a lot more sympathy though if it were involuntary.

11.13 In No way looking forward to the coming weeks

November 14th, 2007 by admin

Bunch of papers, and once I’m done with that…. packing and I’m off. In sum, too much work and too little fun. I can see it now, with exactly one month left I have a ton of stuff to clean up the term and hopefully end on a good note. Some stuff I could have gotten done before….

All I can do is look forward to the Guatemala trip and pray it goes well. Though a month of relaxation at home does sound rather nice…I’m sure I won’t be regretting the decision to buy the ticket afterwards ;) Plus, when I get home, its time for more Battlestar Galactica, The Tudors, and it’ll be skiing/boarding season. I think I’ll actually go this season, despite years of ‘I meant to go…”

Back to the paper…maybe I’ll do well this term. God I hope so, getting nervous about the usefulness of a liberal arts degree…

11.9 A Buck for Huck

November 9th, 2007 by admin

Made my first official campaign donation the other day. OK, it was a measly $20.08 (get it? hah!) but I’m a poor college student :P Typically I’m a Democrat, but the showings in recent years by them has been downright pathetic. Kerry? The present Congress? A bunch of nutjobs these days. So, unless Hillary gets assassinated (not that I would in any condone such an action….but if there is such a fund for that cause I’ll be donating more than $20! ;) ) I’ll be finding a Republican candidate. Liking Huckabee right now, not necessarily for the issues, more so because he actually has beliefs and isn’t a shady career politician like Guiliani. Gotta hate that guy for riding the coattails of 9-11, what exactly did he do anyway? New York hated him before that. Still, I disagree with him on Capital punishment, abortion, civil unions, the usual stuff that religious folk support out of faith rather than reason.

Still, I could live with Thompson, and maybe with Romney?

But at the end of the day, who supports Huckabee? Chuck Norris, and we all know better than to mess with Chuck….

11/8 So many paths

November 8th, 2007 by admin

Sometimes you stop and think about all of the choices, the bigger ones, you’ve made and wonder how things would have turned out. Is there one ideal road, an optimal route? Sometimes I wonder…but I generally don’t believe there is. If there was, wouldn’t that be a depressing way to live life! There are happy people in Somalia and people that hate life in suburbia. Maybe more of the latter than the former ;)

A cliche random thought, but c’est la vive

11.5 Shit List

November 5th, 2007 by admin

That song “Bubbly” by Colby Caillat is very near my shit list of songs. Ok, fine, its on the list. Which is unfortunate because I liked it at first. It now joins the ranks of “Hey there Delilah” in the songs that are not really a catchy style and are great sometimes…but because of this they are so neutral that they can be played everywhere. Case in point…105.1, kink, and 94.7 will all play it. I have a physical aversion to the song “Hey There, Delilah” now, and I don’t think I’m alone. Same goes for that James Blunt song, you are beautiful. The only difference with that song is…that is always sucked.

Soon…Hey There Delilah will die off…but apparently only to be replaced by other overplayed songs like Bubbly ;)

10.29 Heroes

October 29th, 2007 by admin

The show started out catchy, a plot line that was interesting and dynamic. And ok, there was a really hot cheerleader :P Now its just getting sloppy and silly with no coherent direction. The plot twists don’t have any order, its starting to look like Lost, just trying to string people along for awhile until they create some kind of conclusion…or don’t. They are randomly introducing characters with little development. In general it lacks direction and I’m done watching. boo ;P

Edit: OK, the last episode ‘might’ have got me back…
